When you build a rocket is it possible to build one with tubes other then the ones provided by Estes?

You can find the tubes you need in the online store here.

There are many companies that sell airframe tubing other than Estes. Do a search on "model rockets" and you should come across some.

Yes you can. There are many other companies out there besides Estes. Aerotech, Public Missiles, Limited, LOC/Precision, Quest, and Rocket Vision, and others that deal in parts such as Apogee Components and Totally Tubular. AT, PML, and LOC deal mainly with High Power Rocketry and their tubes are very heavy duty, ranging in size from 24mm (D motor size) up to 12" diameter. Apogee and TT use modroc-grade tubes ranging from 1/4" up to 4.75" diameter.

Others have used carpet roll tubes, paper towel and wrapping paper tubes, and other items that can be found around the house. The drawback is that they are either very heavy without adding strength (carpet tubes), or they are too weak. Either way, you'd need to strengthen them to make them strong enough to use for anything above a D motor.

Go to http://www.rocketryonline.com and check out the vendors link for the above companies
